ME: Andromeda’s Latest Patch Has Messed Up Conversations On PC, Here’s How To Fix It

Mass Effect Andromeda’s latest update is now live on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. As detailed here, this update improves some of the facial model details while also fixing bugs and making changes to multiplayer balance. One thing that wasn’t included in the official patch note is that this update binds numpad keys to the conversations, which results in a cluttered mess during a choice given in a conversation.

If you need to get an idea on how it looks, you can check it out in the screenshot below (source). Fortunately there is a temporary fix for it until BioWare releases a new patch on PC.

The fix for this new conversation system on PC is to unbind the numpad keys. You can do so by going into Key Bindings and checking out the option ‘Conversation’. You need unbind them with the X button in order to resolve this issue. Alternatively, you can also reset the key bindings to their default position and set them again and hopefully this should resolve the issue for you.

Mass Effect Andromeda is available now for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Thanks for the tip! Worth noting that I had to unbind keys, save game, quit, then restart the game before the annoying “Num 1” etc. text would actually go away.

Thank you so much for the tip! I’ve been truly enjoying playing ME:A up to this point, but the intrusive key binding commands in the conversation wheel was actually enough to throw a wrench in the experience for me. I’m glad to see them gone now!
