Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 PC Performance Improvement Update Is Live, Download Size Revealed

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has received a new update on the PC. This new update reportedly includes Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements for the PC version of the game.

This new update should be live on Steam and it requires ~520 MB download. Treyarch Studios still hasn’t revealed any patch notes for this new update but we do know that it includes bug fixes and improvements to the performance for campaign and the zombies mode. There are conflicting reports from users with some benefiting from this new patch while others still reporting the same bad performance that they had at launch.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launched on PC with several issues including bugs, lackluster performance and crashes to desktop. It was the first Call of Duty game from Treyarch Studios launching simultaneously for current generation and PC. While the PC version had its fair share of issues, the consoles version of the game were also rather lackluster and inconsistent in term of performance, which was a huge step back from Advanced Warfare.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is out now on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. In addition to current generation and PC version, Activision has also released a PS3 and Xbox 360 version that lacks the campaign but includes the multiplayer and Zombies mode. It also runs at a variable frame rate compared to the target 60 fps for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Let us know if you have faced any improvements in this latest update for Black Ops 3 on PC.

There’s only one survival that both teams need to fix. Minus pcu glitches all that will be fixed in time. What’s not being addressed is a simple fix in the game that has irked many in the game now and in the past and as the look of it continues to be rampant. To run and gun or to camp, it doesn’t matter to me which side your on but there needs to be data driven segregation. Both camps have the data just having to fortitude to follow through with and trying to develop the game into preventing or limiting mess the game flow up. I know the original development team from infinite was for this. But everyone was so afraid of losing revenue based off of offending one side or the other. But now mostly both games are cartoonist and rip offs from other crappie games that originally set COD apart from other games like prime example halo. Get back to 15 minutes of havoc like in the past which kept people up 24+ playing. Instead of saying it’s about strategy like you would see in BF4 or simular. Infiniti ward biggest hit was in your face havoc. Again my beef isn’t if your a camper or runner. But the 2 should never play together except in private match or public private team base match. Camper should play with campers and runners should play with runners. BO3 started pretty decent but know people now the maps there hidden in corners left and right.

Camping really isn’t a bad thing people do it to try dieng less and to produce kills but now if your playing like tdm or something like that I say run and gun don’t hide but if you play a skill based game type you can camp it out and play smart

Like I said earlier I’m not raging over one or the other when original Call of Duty was made. The one of the biggest statements Infinity Ward came out with before the major split is when they designed that game they designed it to cause havoc they’re never designed it based off strategy like I said earlier the battlefield format with you would understand you have that little bit strategy going into. That being said there’s many out there that wants to be set up based off the date its not picking on one side or the other if you want to play the game basic strategy you should play with like-minded players they wanted playoff strategy and its strategy is camping or laying back or how you want to call it that’s the people you should play with but if people want to just go out there and Car had a 15 minutes they should be free to cause havoc not worrying about kill death ratio is and all that type stuff that’s all I’m saying on that like I said I’m not picking on one side or another but the games I’m both sides from Infinity Ward and Treyarch are sinking based off trying to design maps that try to prevent camping and that’s one of the main things that both camps talk about about minimizing and I don’t want them and minimize I want them to make these maps big small whatever but they need to separate the players the problem is not with the game problem lies with the players and if they do that they will cause a reliable and have more players coming back to that game and like I said I’m not here to pick on one side of the other I just don’t think you should be any except for private matches what you play like or how I play like if the data shows you want to sit and I want to run or vice versa we should go in those two different categories so that’s enough for my rent

With an i7 4790k, 16G 1886hz RAM and GTX 980ti, the FPS are still all over the place, ranging from 80 to 25. Very choppy gameplay.

This game is a serious wreck on PC.

Still runs bad in some levels major fps drops, mostly cause of volumetric lighting, cutscenes still drop to 24fps, this is with i7 4790k and gtx 980 and 16gb ram

I’m running the same CPU, ram count and graphics card and still getting major frame drops.

I put all settings to just High, and iv turned off Volumetric lighting and motion blur for now as at the start of Rise and Fall level when getting off the train the fps droped when it was on, seems it might be unoptimized, game really needs fixing, Mp and zombies seem fine though

Hey, I think you left out a few words: “It was the first Call of Duty game from Treyarch Studios [since the series switched to a three year cycle starting with Advanced Warfare].” Or something like that.
Thanks for the info. Seems like the community will have mostly moved on by the time this gets fixed which is sort of annoying. Call of Duty is the one series you buy at (near) full price because its main drive, the multiplayer, is such a time-and-place kind of thing. My favorite game modes are objective related and the series still suffers from people just playing the very poor Team Death Match. In TDM the game’s flaws are most apparent, but that’s an entire article, or even an essay, so I won’t detail them here. I’ll just note that this simultaneous launch seems to have hurt the players and will probably hurt profits in the long-term. Ubisoft is actually putting their latest Assassin’s Creed game (Syndicate) out later on PC, yet it is a singleplayer experience.

    • Thanks! I meant to say that it was the first Black Ops game by Treyarch on current generation and PC. The PS3/360 port was done by some other studio.
