CDPR Explains Why Cyberpunk 2077 Is First Person; It Is RPG First With Some Shooter Elements

CD Project Red has finally talked about their upcoming project Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2018. They revealed the first footage for the game at Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference and followed it with behind the scenes footage to the press and answered many questions for the game.

Recently, CD Project Red’s Associate Design Director, Kyle Rowley was interviewed by GameSpot to talk about Cyberpunk 2077. He talked about the game being playable in first-person and why they decided to settle on this new design after years of experience with third person RPG games.

According to Kyle, one of the reasons why they decided to settle on the first person camera for Cyberpunk 2077 is that they believe they have created an immersive world full of attention to detail around objects, and they want the player to see it all up close without having the nuisance of a third person camera so it feels more personal

He stressed that Cyberpunk 2077 is a role-playing game first and shooter later. It is not a first-person shooter with some RPG elements but it is a role-playing game that has some shooter elements. They have a deep progression system that should be expected from a typical CD Project Red game. Character creation also makes it to the game and there will be dialogue choices that can affect the conversation.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently confirmed for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. No release date was revealed for it at E3 2018.
