TGS 2015 is now well underway, and Square Enix has revealed fresh gameplay footage for the Tri-Ace developed Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness. Just recently, the publisher had also announced that the fifth iteration in the Star Ocean franchise will be released on PS4 in Japan on February 25, 2016.
The brand new gameplay footage from Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithfulness can be seen below.
The gameplay demo gives us the opportunity to take a closer look at Star Ocean 5’s battle system. As was the case with previous iterations in the series, battles will play out in real-time with you assuming control over the main character. Though, unlike past games, the transition between exploration and battle will be seamless.
Depending on how near or far you are from your enemies, Star Ocean 5’s battle system classifies your attack type as ‘long’ or ‘short’ range.Much like previous games, you’ll be able to mix up a combination of different normal and special attacks. Similarly, you will also have the ability to switch over to other characters in your party at any time during battle. A target lock-0n system is also in place, making it easier to switch between multiple targets.
Based on the gameplay footage, Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithfulness appears to be coming along nicely. The fifth iteration retains the spirit of past games in the series, while also showing signs of evolution in terms of design.
We look forward to sharing more on Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithfulness in the days to come. Stay tuned for further updates as they become available. In the meantime, let us know what you think of the game’s battle system in the comments below.
