CS:GO Is Not Giftable During Valve’s Steam Summer Sale

It’s that time of the year again, when we spend all of our hard earned money on Steam games. The Steam Summer Sale started a few days ago and players have already bought thousands of games for themselves or their friends.

Steam has a unique feature which allows customers to purchase games as a gift for other friends and send it to them. You can do this with just about any game on the market. However, this year, things are a little different. Valve is preventing players from purchasing Counter Strike: Global Offensive as a gift.

If you attempt to purchase CS:GO as a gift, then the following message appears:

“Counter-Strike Global Offensive can only be purchased for your own account at this time.”.

According to Valve, their “goal with sales is to grow the community and historically, during sales, the new users that stick around are mainly the ones that purchase copies for themselves.”

This situation is weird because CS:GO is the only game with this restriction. All other games on the market can be purchased as gifts, without any complication. CS:GO is currently one of the biggest games in the world. The CS:GO E-League is an eSports league that is broadcasted on TV. Not many video games have achieved something like this.

All the CS:GO drama aside, Valve is still offering some amazing deals during the Steam Summer Sale which is set to end on July 4.
