Destiny 2 Will Run At Native 4K On Xbox One X, Dynamic 4K On PS4 Pro

Destiny 2

Bungie has confirmed that they will release a brand new update for the PS4 and Xbox One before the launch of the upcoming DLC. This update is meant to add support for the Xbox One X and also implements HDR support on both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. The more interesting part of the update is that it confirms the game will run at native 4K on the Xbox One X compared to the dynamic 4K resolution on the PS4 Pro.

Destiny 2 launched in early September and was shipped with support for the PS4 Pro on disc, however the game was still locked to 30 fps on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. It was confirmed that the PS4 Pro version uses a dynamic 4K resolution that adjusts depends on the rendering load but now the Xbox One X version has been confirmed to render at native 4K without any of the drawbacks of the adaptive resolution making it the best console version of Destiny 2.

The official statement from Bungie can be seen below.

On December 5, along with the launch of Curse of Osiris and Season Two, we’ll be deploying an update to Destiny 2 that will deliver stunning gameplay with high dynamic range (HDR) lighting to these new consoles. You’ll also see adaptive 4K resolution on the PlayStation 4 Pro and 4K on the Xbox One X.

Destiny 2 is available now for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. You can read our review of the Xbox One version from here, or the PC version from here.
