Dragon Quest XI Release Date Finally Revealed, Coming Earlier Than Expected

Dragon Quest XI is one of the most anticipated JRPG in Japan and the release date was just revealed at an official livestream for the game. The release date of the game appears to be a lot earlier than what others expected as it is now set to launch this summer.

Square Enix confirmed the release date for the game in a livestream held today. The game is currently confirmed for the PS4 and Nintendo 3DS with both platforms launching with their own separately developed versions of the game. They will also launch simultaneously on July 29th.

Square Enix has confirmed that the game is also coming to the Nintendo Switch although they have nothing to announce about it yet. Since there are two completely different versions of the game (3 if you count 2D as separate), it is still unclear on what version the Nintendo Switch will receive after Nintendo 3DS.

Dragon Quest XI is the 11th mainline game and the first one after Dragon Quest VIII that is not an MMO and also releasing on a console. The game’s launch also coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Dragon Quest franchise spanning dozens of games across a variety of platforms.

Dragon Quest XI is currently confirmed for Japan and there are no plans for a Western release, but hopefully that will change soon.
