Fallout 4: How To Download 1.1.30 Beta Update And Fix PC Crashes Related To Xaudio Drivers

Bethesda Softworks has released a quick fix for Fallout 4 on PC related to a game crashing bug. This bug was caused by an issue with the xaudio drivers and this latest fix will resolve this issue for those who were experiencing it on their PC.

Bethesda’s Community Lead shared details on how to update to this 1.1.30 Beta Update on PC.

To get the beta, you need to do the following:

  1. Log into Steam
  2. Right Click on Fallout 4 in your Library
  3. Select Settings
  4. Select Betas
  5. A drop down menu will appear. Select beta – 1.1.30 Beta Update
  6. Select OK.
  7. Wait a few minutes for Fallout 4 should update.
  8. When done, Fallout 4 should appear as Fallout 4 [beta] in your Library

If you decide you don’t want to run the Beta anymore, redo steps 1 – 4. At the drop down, select NONE – Opt out of all beta programs.

If you were having issues with the game crashing to desktop on PC, it is recommended to download this latest update in order to resolve this issue.

Fallout 4 also has a whole set of console commands and cheat codes available on PC. You can take a look at them from here. In addition to the consoles commands, you might also be interested in reading about the day 1 patch and its size on PS4 and Xbox One.

I dont have fallout 4 on steam so what do i do?

  • Blackguard 316

Dammit, Bethesduh! Can’t you make ONE un-fucked game? Main issues already: No character voice audio, and after I talk to the Valt-tec guy..NOTHING HAPPENS! SHTF is supposed to happen, and you get out of the intro. Not happening, I feel like this is some SIMS bullshit…walking around, “activating” coffee, the baby cries…OMG…

perhaps get a decent pc and learn to configure it properly, or maybe you’re better off with consoles? Nothing wrong with game, millions are playing it with no issues. Not one crash, very few bugs….stop whinging or learn how to tweak and setup up your PC correctly. You probably have 103 processes in the background, 4gb of ram and an x50 series nvidia. Dual core CPU too I guess? Shitty mobo? Crappy cheap ass PSU? Yeah…

This comments section brings me so much relief. Despite already being able to put 10 hours into it, my game no longer lets me play, simply loading up then closing without an error message. I have no betas section, all my drivers are updated, I’ve verified the game integrity, I’ve it reinstalled several times, there’s nothing in my event log, I even tried that weird fix involving click your task manager (which worked only the first couple of times).

Since no one is talking about this particular bug anywhere I was worried I was in the minority and it would never get fixed. Happy to see others are having the same issue and are rightfully pissed off about it

I had to edit both ini files (Fallout4Prefs) in both the users folder and in the game folder, adding my 21:9 res, also installing latest nvidia driver and install the beta in steam. Then it finally worked 🙂

  • Crimson Clover

my game is like a dumb white bitch in a horror movie she wont run

  • Clock_work

I don’t understand this. I’ve played for 13 hours and I didn’t have a single crash or significant bug. How do so many of you have so many issues? A lot of your problems is a shitty OS or shitty outdated drivers. Windows 10 with a 2x 770 SC running great on Ultra.

    • Joseph Hernandez

No, you’re just an ignorant child it seems lol.

      • Clock_work

It was a legitimate question. I see all these people bitching and raging at the game and when you ask them what drivers they are using they tell you they are using 5 month old drivers.

        • Joseph Hernandez

5 months doesn’t sound old. I have a lenono y50, I thought that was a good enough pc to run the game.

          • Clock_work

It could be a good enough PC but you have to update your drivers (the software that makes your video processor run).

          • Christopher Suiters

How good your computer is has nothing to do with drivers moron. You called him an ignorant child, but you have proven to be the ignorant one.

          • Joseph Hernandez

Was joking around with him, obviously you are butthurt when I wasn’t even talking to you. Why are you crying so hard buddy?

          • slap

You’re clearly the butthurt kid here it would seem. Vitriolic ad hominem seems about all you are capable of

          • slap

a what now? You do realise no savvy PC gamer buys a ready made PC? Half your problem right there. You want a good PC you build it. who’s the ignorant child?

    • slap

Very few people with issues, those who do most likely have no clue about setting up their OS and have 104 processes running in the background etc. 75 hours in and very few bugs, and no crashes. That’s right, not even one crash.

  • Alex Habbart

This game is too fucking broken. I’ve spent 2 fucking days trying to fix this piece of shit. Fuck this game.

    • Blackguard 316

Same thing with every Bethesduh game…dammit.

      • slap

nah nothing wrong with the game. 75 hours in and still not one single crash

  • James Beliall

my game was working fine all day yesterday, been crashing often today, since i updated

  • Simon Digby

I don’t get that option for my Fallout 4 in Steam to set it for Beta updates but I get it on other games. Why is it so for me ?

    • yaygumiewormies

I don’t see Betas in properties either. I hope they put out a real update.

      • TwiTch

I do not have a Beta Tab either, keep us up to date if you find it please

        • Dustin

          Same here. Very frustrating.

          • Randobeanie

            Can’t find it either.

  • pmmeurcats

It keeps on crashing on me every 10-15 minutes. I’m running it on beta, the lowest setting and it crashes randomly with no error to the desktop. It looks great but it sucks I can’t play it for more than 5 minutes in fear of it crashing.

    Bethesda pls

  • MelodyOfWings

I have no “Betas” Section under my Fallout properties… and Yes, i did change it to allow betas…. Thanks for a broken game Bethesda

    • Blackguard 316

Is it any surprise? I get this audio issue: No character audio..the music, environmental sounds, etc. But, no character audio. Fucking Bethesduh.

  • Paul O

When I go to the Library and right click on Fallout 4 I don’t see any “Settings” option…

    • pmmeurcats

It would be under “Properties”, which is last on the list but for some reason the beta isn’t showing up in the Properties menu.

  • JudgeMethos

I was just traveling through the house after creating the epic look of my character and 12 minutes in… POOF… game shut down on me.

  • Alex Habbart

None of these options even exist on my steam! There is no settings tab, and no betas tab! I just wanna play a fucking game and I gotta jump through a thousand hoops. Anyone know what else to do? Otherwise fuck this shit

  • Alexander Gerhard Roehrig

it asks me for an access code?

    • pmmeurcats

You would just click on the beta and then exit out. It should update itself then in your library.

  • Graeme Dickson Swann

With or without the update I still only get as far as “please stand by” and then it closes the game without any kind of error message

    • carson

      same here

    • Mark L

Me too – and no response on Twitter from Bethesda. I’m running an i7 4790 4Ghz, 16Gb RAM, Samsung SSD, Windows-7 64-Bit, and my slight weak link but still above min-spec is an R7 260X Graphics Card. Doesn’t just crash without error it also crashes the whole PC the next time I try if I don’t restart in between! 🙁

    • Al_D

I’m on my 6 hours and no crash. They said update your GPU to the latest, especially Nvidia.

  • Master of Intelligence

1.1.30 beta fixed the crashing for me.

  • nck127

My game crashes every time I try to go to the surface, I’ve done every fix people have posted. Can someone help me?
