Yesterday, Sony revealed that Final Fantasy XV (initially known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII) and Kingdom Hearts III will be coming to the PlayStation 4. At the time, it was believed that both these games would be PlayStation 4 exclusives. But now it turns out that they are not.
Shinji Hashimoto said that the games are being developed with a tool called Direct X 11. With this, it is easier to port games to various hardware.
Square Enix, at their E3 panel, confirmed that both Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III will be ported to the Xbox One. “Following yesterday’s announcement [for PS4] we would like to announce that we are porting Final Fantasy XV to Xbox One as well,” said Hashimoto.
This came as a surprise since when Final Fantasy XV was first announced as Final Fantasy Versus XIII back in 2006, it was said to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Also, the Kingdom Hearts franchise has never been available to Xbox users. Even the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is exclusive to the PlayStation 3.
This is good news for people who are buying the Xbox One, since they will not be left out of the wonderful experience that these games will bring.
