Final Fantasy Agito hits 500k registered users in Japan

Joint developers and publishers Square Enix released Final Fantasy Agito as a free-to-play game on mobile phones on the 15th of May and it has already managed to amass a 500,000 registered userbase. Final Fantasy Agito was initially the name of Final Fantasy Type-0, a Japan only PSP exclusive RPG. Agito also borrows the lore, characters and world of Type-0 which fans consider to be one the very best in recent years.

Active players as a bonus for hitting the milestone will be awarded with Gil, a Phoenix Down S, and a Gold Hourglass S (via Siliconera).

Along with the the Golem Takedown quest starting today, schedule for Class 0’s plans was also revealed:

  • May 23 – The First Decision
  • May 26 – For the Safety of the Citizens
  • May 30 – Defeat the Behemoth
  • June 2 – Class 0′s Entrance
Final Fantasy Agito like Final Fantasy Type-0 is currently Japan exclusive with Square Enix not talking about any plans to localize the game. Fans have been busy working on a fan translation patch for Type-0, which they hope will be ready later this summer. Hopefully we won’t need it and Sony manages to surprise us by announcing it for the PS Vita, strengthening the #JRPGVita movement. A guy can dream right?
