Final Fantasy VII Remake Reportedly in Development for the PS4

Final Fantasy VII was released in 1997 and ever since Square Enix debuted a demo of the game running on PlayStation 3 in 2006, the fans have been demanding for a remake of the game. It seems like their wishes might come true after all as rumors point to a remake being in development for the PlayStation 4.

Final Fantasy VII is usually considered the pinnacle of JRPGs. It was the best selling JRPG for a long time (still is) and it started the whole JRPG craze and put the Final Fantasy franchise in a spotlight worldwide.

Siliconera has learned from their sources that Square Enix is currently developing a remake of the cult classic Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation 4. The art style of this Remake will feature the modern design of Cloud in the recent games like Dissidia Final Fantasy. There is no more info about this remake other than the fact that it is being developed for the PlayStation 4, and it is entirely different from the PC port of Final Fantasy VII that Square Enix announced at PSX last year.

Let us know what you think about this new rumor in the comments below.

    YES 🙂

Don’t get too excited, it’s just a rumour. All the reports today are quoting the one website (Siliconera), so take the news with a hefty pinch of salt.

another verified neogaf user said it as well as another insider. alongside siliconera and gamespot,
in the years since 2006, this is the most we have heard right before an E3. i choose to believe this year

Gamespot aren’t actually reporting anything fresh, they are simply quoting Neogaf and Siliconera (basically the same rumour from the same source). They say “a growing number of reports” but the reports I have seen are all linked to Siliconera.
I haven’t seen any word about “another” insider, just the one from Neogaf that you mentioned.
As for that Neogaf post, how does verifying the poster make the post any more legit? (the post was originally made by a junior member).
It sounds too good to be true…

We will see later. I won’t be holding my breath though. The post also mentioned The Last Guardian (another game I was excited about, but I’m losing hope for).

I look forward to being proven wrong though. 🙂
