Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has revealed some new information on the development status of Final Fantasy XV in a new Active Time Report.
First of all, Hajima Tabata shared two new videos from the development of the game. The first one was Progress Report 2.0, which featured various systems of the game that were still in development. Tabata explained before showing the video that it was an old video from around August/September so it still shows some work-in-progress footage. This will be the last work-in-progress footage since the game is basically done at this point.
In addition to this video, we also get out first look at the new battle footage featuring magic. You can have a look at it below.
Additionally, we get to know more about the Niflheim empire and the main people behind it. We learn that the Niflheim empire specializes in technology and robots. This can be seen in the form of the robotic soldiers and magitek armors in the world of Final Fantasy XV. They are also the most dominating empire that have free reign in the world and want to exert their control over Lucis, who have a specialty in magic.
The main people behind the Niflheim empire are Iedolas Aldercapt and Ardyn Izunia, both of whom have been featured in the previous Final Fantasy XV trailer. Iedolas Aldercapt is the emperor but currently semi-retired while Ardyn Izunia handles the majority of the Niflheim empire.
Tabata also revealed a brand new character called General Gluaca who appears to wear armor hiding his appearance. In addition, we also see a return of the Dragoon lady. Her name was revealed to be Aranea Highwind and she also attacks Noctis and friends in the latest battle footage.

Finally we learn that the official release date will be confirmed in an event to be held at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, USA. This event will be streamed live on Twitch/YouTube and it is scheduled to start at 7 PM PST on March 30th.
Final Fantasy XV is currently set for a worldwide release in 2016. The game is in development for the PS4 and Xbox One using Square Enix’s own Luminous Engine.
