Epic Games has shared the details about the upcoming Season Pass 3 for Fortnite which will be released in the form of Patch 3.0.0. This update is available to download now and if you are playing the free-to-play version of Fortnite Battle Royale on any console, you can enjoy the 60 FPS mode which will be enabled by default now and to switch back to 30 fps mode, you will have to go into the settings menu.

The 60 fps mode is being described as prioritizing performance over visuals so the player can enjoy a smooth experience. You can read the official description of it below as listed in the patch notes for the update.

60 FPS on Console (Battle Royale)
Experience Fortnite like never before. PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One X now support 60 FPS mode, hand-tuned for each console to provide an extra-smooth gaming experience while maintaining visual fidelity.

Fortnite Battle Royale is completely free to play and available on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. This mode is separate from the main Fortnite game although both share the similar update structure. The free-to-play aspect of the Battle Royale mode has made it a surprise hit for the developer Epic Games who are continuing to update the game with new updates almost every month.
