Microsoft has just announced that the latest entry in the incredibly popular Gears Of War series, Gears Of War 4, has just gone gold ahead of the game’s official launch this October.
This news comes courtesy of both the official Microsoft Blog and Xbox Wire, both of whom made the announcements on their respective websites. The event was celebrated by the company’s board of directors alongside Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, and other members of developer The Coalition including studio head Rod Fergusson.
Satya Nadella can also be seen above holding the Gold Master Disc, which will be sent to Xbox facilities for replication for the mass market.
Gears of War 4 is also part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, which means that purchasing the game once on either the Xbox One or Windows 10, will automatically allow the owner to play the game on both platforms. The game also supports Cross Play across both the Xbox One and Windows 10 in all of the modes present in the game, including Versus, the Campaign and the all new Horde 3.0 mode.
Gears Of War 4 is set to release on the Xbox One and the PC on 11th October 2016. The plot is set 25 years after the events of Gears Of War 3, and will focus on J.D. Fenix, son of previous protagonist Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud.
