Gran Turismo 6 vs Forza 5: Graphics Comparison On Laguna Seca Track

By -

YouTube user Ben Phillips has made this neat video, which shows Gran Turismo 6 on PlayStation 3 and Forza 5 on Xbox One running side by side on the same track.

Gran Turismo 6 was released on PlayStation 3 on December 6th, 2013. Forza 5 was an Xbox One launch title and was released on November 22nd, 2013. When it comes to critical reception of both titles, Forza 5 currently sits at a 80 meta score while Gran Turismo is only slightly higher at 81 meta score.

You can check out this Gran Turismo 6 vs Forza 5 video comparison below.

The thing of particular interest here is the stark difference in lighting between both games. The other thing to note is that Gran Turismo 6 is a PlayStation 3 title, which is a current gen hardware, yet the game holds pretty well to a launch title on next generation hardware. Forza 5 has some neat additions of its own like rock-solid 60 fps, which makes for a immersive and smooth gameplay experience along with higher quality specular reflections on road and overall higher quality textures. Gran Turismo 6 also runs at 60 fps but unfortunately there are definitely some frame-rate drops going on, as can be seen in the video.

Anti Fanboyism is acting lime a fanboy.

  • Anti-fanboyism

The video gaming community is full of mindless idiots (a.k.a. fanboys) who would defend their favorite console/PC and/or video game by saying all sorts of bullsh!t, but the worst of all are the gran turismo fanboys. These apes will seek any website/youtube video about Forza 5 and would go as far as to say that gt6′s graphics are better than Forza 5(!) Not only gt6 is made for a last gen console, but about 80% of its content is ripped directly from a console that’s even older the the PS3. Forza 5′ graphics are way better than Forza 4′s, and Forza 4′s are better than Forza 3′s, and Forza 3′s are way better than gt5′s and gt5′s are slightly better than gt6′s (fact: Forza 4′s cars has twice the the detail and polygon count of gt6) and that’s only in the graphics department. Almost everything about Forza 5 is much better than gt6, weather it’s physics, sounds, game features or realism. If you want to know how realistic each game is, use a pickup truck upgraded to 600-650 HP and drive around indianapolis. In the Forza games, you need to reduce speed, otherwise you’ll hit the outerwall. In gt you can drive flatout the whole lap, that’s not realistic at all.
After trying both games, I just realized how retarded fanboys could be (especially gt’s fanboys). Any sensible person who tries both would realize Forza 5 is superior in every way.

GT6 is a very nice looking PS3 title IMO. Forza 5 shows some notable upgrades in effects in places but it’s not demolishing GT6′s look or experience at all…
It just means that there’s still a long way to go on pushing next gen hardware potentials. And yes I also noticed the odd framerate dip on GT6, but nothing game breaking. Indicating that at this point in the game and considering the mature tools available and dev experience etc.. That last gen systems are reaching their ceiling height in real world performance.
Still neither titles are ugly or unplayable in any way so both winners IMO.

I’ve played GT6 a lot and so far I haven’t noticed any problems with the 60 fps. It runs great all the time.

i also have both GT6 and forza 5 and i must say that forza 5 is far superior to GT6 in almost every way possible. only place Gt6 beats forza 5 is in avalibal tracks. yes Gt6 has 1200 cars, but only 45 is made for that game, all the other cars and most of the tracks are comming from either Gt5 or 4,

yes GT4, the ps2 game that came out before forza 1 on the originale xbox! forza 5 on the otherside have remade all its content and is pushing monthley car packs so in total the car number should be around 270ish in the end of this year.

they are both good games, but where forza feels like a game that is made with car passioned developers GT6 feels more like a greatest hits just haystely thrown together for some fast cash… most notable when it comes to engine sound, witch is rubbish in GT6!

in all fairness i also have to say that i have been a forza fan since first played it back in 05 when a buddy of mine bought a xbox and forza.

I just got Forza 5 and to be honest I’m very disappointed in the game. I don’t understand why I would need to pay 60 bucks for a Car Pack DLC to have not only 1 other car pack not be available with the 60 dollar car back, but also not actually own the freakin car that I just bought from the DLC. Instead I have to either race around 14 tracks (which is a very small selection) to build up money to own something i just bought with real world money. To make matters worse is if I spent 100 dollars on the tokens I should diffently get all the cars in the game, but no with 100 dollars worth of tokens spent you luckly to only get 1/3 of the cars (if you include some of the smaller cars with the actually super cars that you want.)

That to me seems like someone put together a “superior race” game to get some “fast cash” at least with gran turismo you don’t have to buy a DLC car with in game credits after already buying the car with real world money!

As far as graphics sure the 60fps looks great, but the 1 day time that doesn’t change get’s very boring. especially with no weather effects. I will wait for DriveClub, Gran Turismo 7, and Project CARS….here’s to hope Turn 10 gets their stuff together and produces a better package than Forza 5…
