Almost eight months after the release of it’s first episode, the Hitman episodic game series is finally nearing the end of it’s first season. And from the looks of it, developer IO Interactive intends to end it on high note.
Episode 6 will take Agent 47 to Hokkaido, Japan, and is set in the exclusive GAMA private hospital and resort. The mission this time around is named “Situs Inversus”, and it will be a culmination of everything players have learnt over the course of the past 5 episodes in terms of both the gameplay and the story.
The episode will feature the usual array of Escalation Contracts, Elusive Targets and community-created Featured Contracts. Players will also have access to brand new weaponry and gear unlocks that can be used across all previous episodes.
Hannes Seifert, Studio Head at IO Interactive, had this to say:
“It was a brave decision to go fully digital episodic with Hitman, fundamentally changing how we make the game, and for us it has been a major success. I want to say a big thank you to all the players for making this possible! Together we’ve built and run the biggest and most replayable locations of any Hitman game and added new live content every single week since launch. And although we’re now completing season one, this is only the beginning for our ever expanding World of Assassination.”
Hitman Episode 6 is set for release on the 31st of October, 2016 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC. If Hitman does well overall, there might even be additional seasons for the game.
