Horizon Zero Dawn Day One Patch Will Add A Performance Mode For ‘Smoother Frame Rate’

Horizon Zero Dawn will be released on February 28th and as we have covered earlier, it will also launch with a day one patch that is just 250 MB in size. This patch isn’t live yet but once it will be available for download, it is confirmed to include a new ‘Performance Mode’ for the game on the PS4 Pro.

The purpose of this performance mode isn’t clear yet but according to a post by NeoGAF user thuway, who quotes a pre-release review guide from Sony, this mode will offer ‘smoother frame rate’ for the PS4 Pro when running at 4K and 1080p resolution.

Horizon Zero dawn will receive a small day zero patch that will build upon PlayStation 4 Pro support, adding a Performance mode which will favor Smoother Framerates while delivering higher visual fidelity in the 1080p mode. This mode is available for both 4K and 1080p displays.

Horizon Zero Dawn is an open world action RPG from Guerrilla Games and it is nice to see them supporting the game with a performance mode when it launches. The wording implies unlocked frame rate for the game, which is also an option in Final Fantasy XV and was added in the latest patch for it.

Horizon Zero Dawn will be released on February 28th for the PS4.
