Square Enix Reaffirms 2018 Release For Kingdom Hearts 3

Kingdom Hearts 3 is easily going to be a major blockbuster release for Square Enix. It is the last part of the Heartless saga featuring Sora and his friends. The game is currently in development at Square Enix under the direction of the series creator Tetsuya Nomura.

Kingdom Hearts 3 was confirmed to launch in 2018 but it still hasn’t received a release date so far. In their recent fiscal report for the year ending March 2018, Square Enix has outlined their plans for the upcoming major releases including some ‘mid-sized’ ones that will be a part of their fiscal year 2019.

The games that are listed in their lineup include Kingdom Hearts 3, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Octopath Traveler. These games are all set to launch this year. Aside from that, the report also lists their plans which include the following.

  • Expand our IP portfolio through major releases of existing and new IPs, and further improve profitability by digital sales.
  • Expect an increase in revenue in FY2019/3 thanks to the launches of multiple blockbuster and mid-sized titles.

Some of the games that are announced by Square Enix but still don’t have any release window include Left Alive, Final Fantasy VII: Remake and Avengers project. They also have games like The World Ends With You Remix for the Nintendo Switch and Saga Scarlet Grace for PS4, Switch and PC in development, so the mid-sized part of the report could be referring to these games. In any case, Square Enix is going to host another E3 conference this year so expect to hear more unannounced project at their upcoming conference.
