Kojima: The Phantom Pain is insanely huge, about 300 times bigger than Ground Zeroes

During an interview with the Japanese site Game Watch at TGS 2013, Kojima-san stated that the map of The Phantom Pain will be huge that compared with Ground Zeroes map size, it will about 300 times bigger.

The translation was done by NeoGAF’s user “raven777” which stated:

Kojima’s TGS interviews are really weird…

he is very vague on whether GZ will be a separated game from TPP. He sounds like it will be included in TPP but not sure…

Also, GZ is not that big (the area) and there won’t have a 24 hour cycle in GZ.(meaning the main mission we saw taking place at night will only be at night).

He mentions the size of GZ map is around 1/300 of TPP.

I wonder when they will upload the gameplay video.

It is unclear whether Kojima-san is talking about individual areas or all locations in The Phantom Pain added together when talking about the size of the map.

This translation also brings some new information to light like there will be no day/night cycle in Ground Zeroes (the main mission that was shown in both day and night cycles will only take place during the night).

There’s still no word on the release date for Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. We only know that Ground Zeroes will serve as a prologue to The Phantom Pain, which will also accustom the players to the Open-world environment approach, and that both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain will make up to complete Metal Gear Solid V.
