The Last Guardian could be a game no more as the official trademark of the game has been abandoned by Sony as of Today, February 16th, 2015. The trademark was filled on August 2nd, 2012 and has run its course over the time, without a formal announcement about the fate of the project.
The Last Guardian has been in development since 2007 and was officially revealed to the world in 2009. The idea was conceived by legendary game designer Fumito Ueda, who has also developed and directed some cult-hits like ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.
It has been missing in action for quite a while now, without any official confirmation of the fate of this game, and only vague hints on whether it is even in development at all.
If the trademark is abandoned, it could point to a name change, or worse, cancellation of this ill-fated project. If there is a name change, perhaps we will know more about it at the upcoming E3. It is important to keep in mind that the trademark has been abandoned before, and Sony filled it again in 2012. So this is not really something new at all.
