The Last Of Us Remastered Multiplayer Player Count Won’t Be Increased, Touch Pad Integration In Works

Naughty Dog have shared new details on The Last of Us Remastered and its multiplayer.

In an on-going AMA over at Reddit, Naughty Dog’s Lead Multiplayer Designer Erin Daly, and Game Designer Quentin Cobb, answered questions of The Last of Us fans regarding its multiplayer.

In one of these questions, there were asked about incorporating the touch pad of the DualShock 4 for The Last of Us Remastered multiplayer. Quentin Cobb replied back that while they haven’t really finalized the touch pad integration, they are definitely looking at it.

We are certainly exploring ways to incorporate the touch pad into multiplayer. If we find something that works, we’ll go with it!

Another questions that was asked was regarding the player count for The Last of Us Remastered multiplayer. Erin Daly confirmed that it will remain the same.

The number of players on PS4 will be the same. During the development of The Last of Us MP we experimented with more players and we felt it had a negative effect on the game – it made reviving less important, the pace was too fast, stealth was harder, etc.

They also talked about the difference between the PS3 and PS4 version of the game, confirming the 60 fps target + shorter load times.

The main differences between the MP on PS4 are:

  • All the maps are included on the disc
  • Visually the game looks better – higher resolution, and we’re targeting 60fps
  • Load times are much faster
  • Playing MP with the Dualshock 4 controller feels great

The Last of Us Remastered is set for a Summer 2014 release on the PS4.
