Marco Reus Voted To Be On The Cover Of Fifa 17

Fifa is one of the most popular games in the world, and is played by millions of football fans worldwide. Fifa 17 will be the latest game in the series, and is set to come out in September. For the past four years, we have seen Lionel Messi on the cover of Fifa games. Having one of the best players on the cover of their game, greatly benefited EA Sports, and helped them sell millions of copies across the world.

However, last year, Lionel Messi’s association with EA Sports came to an end, when the four-year contract between EA Sports and Messi expired. The contact could have been renewed, but the game publisher did not seem interested. This might be due to the drama surrounding the superstar, as of late. Lionel Messi was recently accused of tax fraud, and might be looking at some serious jail time.

This will be the first entry in the Fifa series since 2012, where the Argentinian is not featured on the cover. His fellow teammate, Neymar Jr., and long time rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, are unable to take his place as they have their own contracts with Konami, who are the developers of Pro Evolution Soccer.

Earlier this month, EA Sports decided to let the fans vote for their favorite players to be on the cover of Fifa 17. The fans had to choose among four players to be on the cover of the game. Real Madrid’s James Rodrigez, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, and Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus were the four players that the fans had to vote for.

Today, EA Sports announced the winner through SnapChat, and the fans elected Borussia Dortmund’s Captain, Marco Reus, to be on the cover of Fifa 17. Reus thanked his fans via twitter, as well as expressing his happiness over being on the cover of Fifa 17.
