Microsoft is well on its way to bring their Xbox Exclusive ‘Halo’ series to TV. The series was announced with the Xbox One reveal and it was planned as an exclusive for the Xbox users but it seems as if Microsoft have swayed away from their original plan.
According to a report, Microsoft is in an advanced stage of negotiations with Showtime to bring the series on commercial TV. The surprising thing about this deal is that if the report is to be believed, the show would be aired on Showtime before it makes its way to the Xbox customers. This would be a major shift in Microsoft’s strategy of providing exclusive entertainment to its users because if this deal is indeed true, it just becomes another TV series, which the Xbox users would get for free…. Nothing exclusive about it!
Halo would be the first (of many?) live-action series set to be published under the Xbox Entertainment Studios platform, with collaboration from 343 Industries, which aims to provide a better entertainment experience to their 40+ million Xbox users. The above mentioned series would be based on the game with the same title, which turned out to be a massive hit among the Xbox users. Steven Spielberg is the man at the helm for producing the drama.
If this turns out to be true, it is bound to make a lot of Live users disappointed. After all, Xbox Entertainment Studios had a long line-up of series, animation, series and documentaries based on some of the best games, including but not limited to “Gears of War”, “Forza Motorsports”, “Age of Empires”.
