With the main showcase of the first day of the PlayStation Experience 2016 coming to an end, we got a look at perhaps one of the most anticipated sequels of this decade, The Last Of Us Part II.
The teaser opens with a shot of a forest, which zooms out to show a stop sign decorated with a logo of the Fireflies militia group, a faction present in the original game. The scene then cuts to a visibly shaken Ellie as she plays a guitar and sings the hauntingly appropriate “Through the Valley” by artist Shawn James. We can also see that Ellie is badly injured, with a massive wound on her lower neck, as well as that she seems to be bleeding from a gash on her forehead.
We then see an armed man, revealed to be Joel, making her way towards Ellie’s location with dead bodies strewn all along his path. Upon reaching her location, he asks, “What are you doing kiddo? You really gonna go through with this? To which Ellie replies, “I’m gonna find, and I’m gonna kill, every last one of them.”
From what we can tell, the sequel will clearly take place years after the conclusion of the first game, seeing how Ellie is now much older than she was in the original.
As of now, not much else is known about the game. Hopefully developer Naughty Dog will provide further context for the sequel soon.
