Xbox One users who are in the preview firmware program can now download the latest update which implements one of the long requested change to the firmware. Just like Sony implemented a download/uploaded queue accessible through the notifications menu, Xbox One users can now also do the same by accessing this download/upload queue by using the Guide button.
The screenshot below gives us a first look at the new upload and download queue that has been integrated into the Xbox Guide settings menu. Previously, you had to go back to the games library menu in order to check out the progress of your games that were being downloaded and now it is much easier to see them all directly when playing a game through the Xbox Guide overlay.
The preview update is currently limited to select members but since Microsoft usually releases these new features gradually once they launch an official public release of the firmware, expect to see this addition show up in a future firmware update.
If you were hoping to get an update on the download speed throttling issue, one member of the Xbox One Development Team confirmed on reddit that this issue happens when you are playing a game as the OS can throttle the download speed. To get the best speed, you will have to close any running games. This has been the case for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch as well.
It’s worth noting that if you have a game running (even if it’s in the background and you’re focused on Home), your download speeds will be throttled. To get the fastest possible download, make sure no games are running.
