PlayStation 2 getting it’s last game

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that the PS2 was one of the best consoles ever. Sony announced in January that the PlayStation 2 would be discontinued. However, the console has yet to receive one last game before it finally rests in peace.

The PlayStation 2’s last game will be FIFA 14 in the West. In Japan, the console has already received it’s last game (or expansion, really): Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin.

EA has released the last game on many consoles. The last game on the Playstation 1 was FIFA Football 2005, while the last game for the Nintendo Gamecube was Madden NFL 08. I wouldn’t be surprised if EA releases the last game for the PlayStation 3 after a few years.

It’s amazing how the PS2 has been running for 13 years now. What was your favourite game on the PlayStation 2? Let us know in the comments below.

I agree, you’re not alone! The PlayStation 2 is still my baby, operating right next to my PS3 even now.
The pile of amazing games I still love and replay is just too large to tell you all of them. But my most nostalgic and loved games of this console are mainly JRPG’s such as Final Fantasy X, Grandia, Drakengard, Kingdom Hearts, and Atelier Iris.
I just can’t communicate enough how sad I am about the way consoles are heading now. The PlayStation 2 was perfect for it’s time, and I think the Next-Gen consoles aught to stay with the same feel and accessibility.
