PlayStation 4 has been built from the ground up to have PS Vita seamlessly integrated with it. With features such as Remote Play, PS Vita has been dubbed as the killer app for PlayStation 4. However Sony still hasn’t confirmed or has plans that it will release both of these together as a bundle but the prospect is ‘becoming more real by the week’ says Fegral Gara, Sony Computer Entertainment’s Vice President and Managing Director for UK on Official PlayStation Magazine UK.
Right now, as I sit here today, we’re not producing a box that fits a PS4 and PS Vita in that one box…
We could probably change our mind in the morning and still have it ready for launch to be honest so it’s not a big decision. It’s not a hard thing to do.
It is possible that Sony announced a soft bundle for these items in their own boxes but on a bundle price. Gara adds:
At the moment [we’re sitting] down with our retail partners discussing exactly what they want the PS4 launch pack to look like. And its very easy for us to work with them and say looks lets create a package that contains PS Plus, Killzone Shadow Fall, PS Vita, PS4, shall we do that? And they put it together as a bundle, let’s call it a soft bundle but it basically means they package together the bits. And they may want to put in FIFA 14 for example or any other third party title and say there’s your PlayStation mega bundle for x pounds. Would we work with them to support them to make that it happen? Yes.
He also states that the company is still “in the planning phase” for detailing such bundles. Sony has already announced a wide range of bundles for the PlayStation 4 with the popular one having Killzone: Shadowfall and one-year PlayStation Plus subscription.
PlayStation 4 launches in EU territories on November 29.
