PlayStation 4 ships 1 million units within 24 hours of its launch in North America

PlayStation 4 seems to be a huge success for Sony as they managed to ship more than 1 million PlayStation 4 units within its launch day in North America. We already knew that the demand for PlayStation 4 was huge but it is great to hear about the actual figures now.

PlayStation 4 has been well received by almost everyone, ever since it was shown back at the February 2013 PlayStation Meeting. It received a lot of positive press at E3, once it was announced that PlayStation 4 will support used games. It also forced Microsoft to remove their strict DRM from their console and allow used games.

Sony’ aggressive approach towards marketing its console also seems to have paid off now as evident from the Day 1 shipment figures. The console has been sold out at major retail outlets in North America. It’s officially launching in Europe on 29th November and in the Middle East on 11th December. SCE’s President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, also tweeted about this news.

PlayStation 4 has turned out to be one of the best launch in PlayStation history and the console is still sold out at many places in North America. The demand for PlayStation 4 is pretty high in Europe as well so we won’t be surprised to see same record breaking numbers from there.
