Originally revealed back during Generation VI, Mega Stones are items that can be used to temporarily evolve some of the older generation of Pokemon in Pokemon Sun and Moon into more powerful variants of themselves. And to do this, players need to get a hold of the Key Stone.
Now while the Key Stone functionality and Mega Stones have more or less been replaced with the Z-Ring and Z-Moves, there is still a way for players to get their hand on one of these Key Stones. If you’re interested, then read on.
To start with, you will need to have beaten the main game. Then, on your way to the Battle Tree you should run into Dexio and Sina from Pokemon X and Y on the Ancient Poni Path, at which point Dexio will challenge you to a battle.
Defeating Dexio will reward you with not only the Key Stone, which acts as a medium between a Trainer and a Pokemon holding a Mega Stone in order to initiate a Mega Evolution, but also the Mega Stone for Alakazam, Alakazite.
At this point the player should also receive a detailed explanation about the features of Mega Evolutions and Mega Stones. You should take your time understanding how this works.
You can now check out our guide on the full list of Mega Stones and where to find them.
Released on 18 November, 2016, Pokemon Sun and Moon is available now for the Nintendo 3DS.
