On November 18th, Nintendo released the highly anticipated Pokemon games, Pokemon Sun and Moon. In less than two weeks after their release, Pokemon Sun and Moon have achieved something that no other Nintendo game has been able to.
Pokemon Sun and Moon are Nintendo’s fastest selling titles in America. Nintendo announced that the games have sold 3.7 million copies. Nintendo revealed that the sales have gone up by 85 percent, when compared to the previous record holders. Before Pokemon Sun and Moon’s release, Pokemon X & Y were the best selling Nintendo games of all-time.
Pokemon X & Y have also accomplished a lot. The games sold more than 4 million copies worldwide, in the first week of launch. Since its release back in 2013, Pokemon X & Y have sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.
Before being named the fastest selling Nintendo game in history, Pokemon Sun and Moon were the most pre-ordered games ever, and the demo, which came out before the release of the game, was the most downloaded demo in Nintendo history.
Nintendo did not mention Pokemon GO in their press release, however, we all know that Nintendo owes Pokemon GO a lot of credit for their success. Pokemon GO was the most talked about game of 2016, with more than 21 million daily users and made more than $600 million through microtransactions.
Pokemon Sun and Moon is now available on the Nintendo 3DS.
