PS4 Firmware Update 4.74 Is Live, Improves System Performance

Sony has released a surprise firmware update for the PS4 today. This new system software update is for firmware 4.74. The changelog for this update is another generic changelog with improvements mentioned to just the system performance.

The size of this firmware update is around 324 MB and it should go live in most regions as the server updates.

Sony is currently performing a closed beta test of the next major PS4 firmware update. This upcoming update is only available to those who have registered for the beta. It is possible that this new mandatory PS4 firmware update is released ahead of the public launch of the 5.00 firmware update.
