Rainbow Six Siege’s Latest Update Reportedly Corrupts PS4 Hard Disk; Ubisoft Working On Fix

Rainbow Six Siege users are reporting a major issue with the latest update for the game. This issue has started to occur after installing the latest update and results in wiping out the PS4 hard disk. There are some specific circumstances which must be fulfilled if you trigger this issue so technically it is possible to avoid triggering it, but just to be safe, it is better to avoid updating to the latest version of the game.

This issue occurs if you try to access friends list after downloading the latest patch on your PS4. This results in the PS4 crashing and forcing a reboot that seems to result in a corrupted hard disk.

Ubisoft appears to have acknowledged the issue on the official support forums and have issued the following update.

Players have reported a crashing issue regarding the party invitation. We are cooperating with Sony on this issue and would advise you to not use this feature until a resolution is found.

The issue is currently only possible on the PS4 so Xbox One and PC version are relatively safe to play, however if you own the game on PS4 then it is highly recommend to avoid updating to the latest version of the game and wait for a fix from Ubisoft.
