Rumor: Another Super Smash Bros. Character Select Screen Appears Online, Shows Unannounced Characters

Nintendo recently dedicated a full Nintendo Direct for Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. This direct also saw the announcement of two brand new characters, Charizard and Greninja. Now it appears that another character select screen of Super Smash Bros. has made its way online, and this one shows way more character than what are currently announced, but this one is in Japanese.

As it stands with any rumor, take this image with a grain of salt. Now if you are interested, check the image below.

The new characters included here are Captain Falcon, Ness, Ganondorf and more. There are a grand total of 39 characters and about 29 of them have been officially announced so far.

Super Smash Bros. will receive a release on the 3DS this Summer while a Wii U release is planned for Winter 2014. It is being developed by Namco Bandai in collaboration with Nintendo. Both version of the game will run at 60 fps and feature online multiplayer.

What do you think about the new characters shown in the leaked image? Let us know in the comments below.

Fake; In the Japanese versions of both Melee and Brawl, the name “Ice Climbers” is the singular “Ice Climber”. Yet here, the s is added. And Chrom’s Japanese name is Krom, but I faintly see it spelled Chrom. A good effort though, and I’d like to see Falco return for real. And maybe Wario.

  • I’d say this list is pretty convincing as none of the renders are from past games and the only language it would be in for now is Japanese, but Chrom is the only one out of the 4 rumored characters to be featured on here. I would have also expected Sheik and Zero Suit Samus to not have their own slots, either.

It was confirmed in the direct that Sheik and Samus would have their own character slots.

A Good Fake, in terms to character renders, but the select screen will probably follow the previous games with more of a close-up on the faces. Wii Fit Trainer’s seems especially disproportionate.
Plus I think we’ll see more newcomers then just Chrom..especially since I feel that the Palutena leak was real and even if its not, I think we’d be seeing another Kid Icarus rep regardless.

    • Sir Blobbington

I could be an incomplete roster (whoever owns the game has still to unlock the rest of the characters)

      • Deva Ashera

Could have been, but its been proven fake now, the Wario slot uses a slightly altered version of this picture from the Super Smash Bros. Brawl website for its image.

I’d be imore inclined to think it was a fake if I could find the picture of Chrom being used. It looks original.

          • Deva Ashera

Here you go, its from his concept art, just slightly edited like Wario.

          • humulos

That is a lot more than slightly. Same pose but a very different image.

          • Deva Ashera

Its not really, anyone with the ability to use photoshop well could alter that image to look like the select screen.
Plus Super Smash Bros. has never used the same pose for the official renders of their characters as they’d appeared in on previous pictures. The closest being the select screen for the 64 version using photoshopped/touched up versions of previous art.

          • humulos

            But I didn’t draw that.

  • R2d2

Fake. There has to be at least a couple of surprise newcomers that have not been announced and all of the “unconfirmed” characters shown here were in previous smash titles.

I really wish Bayonetta would be confirmed, but good to see the list shows more is bound to be announced for the roster, without a doubt.
