See Dualshock 4 Controller being connected to a PC without any hassle

Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida had confirmed that Dualshock 4 controller will work for PC but we never knew how it will actually work. A new video shows the controller being connected to PC and working out of the box.

Sony’s Dualshock 3 controller never really got official support for using as a controller on PC, where as Microsoft did support their Xbox 360 controller for PC usage and hence it was the norm in the previous generation. We could still play using Dualshock 3 controller on PC but we had to use other third party drivers instead of official drivers from Sony.

Now that Sony has finally introduced official support for the Dualshock 4 controller, people can just plug and play them on PC like they did with Xbox 360’s controller. Of course, the button layout will still be a problem but if Dualshock 4 is officially supported, maybe, the developers will start showing the layout for both the Xbox One controller and the Dualshock 4 controller.

I can’t get the Dualshock4 to do anything on PC. It’s totally useless.

But the real question is if sony will ever release official drivers to enable sixaxis and touchpad functionality. Just imagine being able to use the touchpad to navigate the ui and switch between games without having to use a launcher like steam’s big screen mode.

Nice, I hate using the 360 controller on the rare occasion I just have too when M/K just won’t do. I tried my DS3 with TP drivers but it’s just not the same as having actual support.

HI! IM REALLY PLANNING TO BUY DS4 FOR MY PC, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE EARPHONES WILL WORK WHEN PLUGGED IN TO THE CONTROLLER WHEN USING ON PC

how do iuse the dualshock 4 on pc with bluethooth ?

  • SamJM

Running on Ubuntu Linux… sorry guys, but DS3 can do that too. If you show me it running on Windows, then it becomes news.

You can use the DS3 on PC’s too, but with the help of a program called Motioninjoy. Hopefully no need for extra software for DS4.

    • SSS

I’ve been using my DS3 on Windows for over a year now. What RandomJoe wrote is correct. There is another program that I think is better than Motionjoy and it is “BetterDS3” (you’ll still need the drivers from Motionjoy, however).

  • Nice to see Sony taking PC gamers into account as well.
