Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final announced for Nintendo 3DS, full blown sequel

Atlas has just revealed Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final after teasing the game on Twitter by asking for 15,000 tweets hyping up the announcement. SMT IV: Final is a sequel to the 2013 3DS title and not a remake or remix like the name suggests. Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final will have a brand new cast of characters although other details on the game are slim.

The game as the name suggests is based in the same world and setting as the original. The word “godslayer” is said to be of huge importance in the story. Most of the staff from the original are returning suggesting that the game has been in development for some time. Satoshi Oyama will be heading development this time around instead of Kazuyuki Yamai who will be producing the game.

Full staff list is below:

  • Producer: Kazuyuki Yamai
  • Director: Satoshi Ohyama
  • Character Designer: Masashi Doi
  • Sound Composer: Ryota Kozuka
  • Setting Plan and Series Demon Designer – Kazuma Kaneko

Famitsu has new information to show off in their next issue, below is a teaser:

Atlas has also promised more information on the game during their “Shinjuku Disaster” live stream airing October 11 at 19:00 Japan time on Niconico.

The original is also getting an “Atlus Best Collection”, a re-release of Shin Megami Tensei IV at a lower price point. That will release on the 3DS in Japan on November 8 for 2,980 yen, around half of its original price.

Priced at 6998 yen in Japan, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final will release next year on February 10 exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
