Shuhei Yoshida Talks About Sucker Punch’s New IP, Has Played It Many Times

Shuhei Yoshida is the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studio and this job also gets him to play all sort of amazing games that haven’t been announced by Sony.

In a new interview with Kinda Funny Games at E3 2017, Yoshida was asked some questions about Sony’s first party output and some of the unannounced games that they have currently in production. One such game is from Sucker Punch, the creator of Infamous: Second Son. They have been working on a brand new game which is rumored to be a new IP for a while now and Yoshida originally talked about it 2 years back in another interview with Kinda Funny.

Shuhei Yoshida was reminded by Greg Miller of Kinda Funny Games that he talked about this new IP 2 years back and he had played it until then, so what is the status of the game now. Yoshida laughed at the question and answered that he has played it many times since then and judging from his comment, it sounded like the game is ready to reveal but Sony hasn’t decided to show it yet.

Yoshida also talked about the lack of new announcements and solid release date at E3 2017 apologizing that they have to make sure the games can hit a particular release date before they announce one, since it is possible that they face any unknown technical issue during the end of the development phase. But he assured that God of War PS4 and Gran Turismo Sports will both hit their Early 2018 and Fall 2017 release window.

Yoshida again clarified that Shadow of the Colossus is a remake but they are not labeling it as one because they want to show it as a PS4 game. The developers at Bluepoint Games were picked for this task because they were the one who remastered the original Shadow of the Colossus for the PS4 so they have experience with the game.
