Sonia Mania Plus Confirmed For July 17, Upgrade Price Confirmed

Sega has announced the release date for Sonic Mania Plus, an upcoming expansion for the base Sonic Mania game that adds new content and will also launch as a retail release for the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Sonia Mania Plus will be available to purchase for $29.99 for those who don’t own the original game but if you have already bought it, the game can be upgraded to the Plus version for as low as $4.99.

Sonic Mania Plus builds off the momentum of one of the best platform games of 2017, Sonic Mania, introducing two new playable characters from past Sonic games, Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel and an Encore mode that will provide a fresh look to familiar zones with new challenges and layouts for new and veteran players alike. Competition and Time Attack modes will receive an update allowing four player competitions, and ghost challenges for time trials.

The retail version will also offer several bonus items including a 32-page collector’s artbook, a reversible SEGA Genesis cover, and holographic packaging.

Sonia Mania was one of the better Sonic games that launched this generation. The series might have suffered with the transition to 3D but the charm and fun of old school 2D Sonic games still lives on with the release of Sonic Mania and its upcoming expansion Sonic Mania Plus.
