I’m sure we all use cloud servers to store our data online. Dropbox, SkyDrive and SugarSync are the leading providers of free cloud storage but now, it seems that SugarSync has decided to adopt the “paid-only” business model with effect from February 8, 2014.
Here is a Quote from the CEO Mike Grossman himself
“There are many companies in this space that are giving away free storage, however, most of these companies will not be viable. We are already in a solid financial position and this shift will further strengthen our business . . . . . . Also, this change will allow us to better serve loyal customers and expand our service offerings. We’re excited about the next stage in our growth and confident that our customers and new users alike will achieve greater value through these enhancements.”
It is not yet confirmed if the prices will be changed after this new strategy comes in effect, but currently SygarSync offers the following packages:
- 60GB storage for $7.49 per month
- 100GB storage for $9.99 per month
- 250GB storage for $24.99 per month
- 1000GB storage (Business users only) for $55.00 per month
The service can still be used on trial for a period of 90 days (with 5GB storage) or 30 days (with 60GB, 100GB or 250GB).
