Sunset Overdrive E3 2013 Reveal vs. 2014 Gameplay Comparison

When Insomniac Games originally revealed Sunset Overdrive at last year’s E3, they talked about how the footage that we saw in the reveal trailer is basically what we will get in the game, especially the art style and graphics. Fast forward to a year later and we have finally gotten a proper look at the gameplay reveal of Sunset Overdrive. How true are Insomniac Games to their claim? We decided to compare both trailers to find out.

First lets compare the character models. Do they match their CGI counterpart?

From what we have seen so far, this does seem to be the case here. Hopefully Sunset Overdrive doesn’t go for pre-rendered cutscenes, but the quality of models definitely looks like it is from real-time footage.

Next up is what they promised in term of gameplay. It definitely looks like we can do most of the stuff that was promised in the original reveal trailer including grinding on wires and sliding along walls.

In term of explosions though, they seem to be toned down. The original reveal trailer showed an awesome explosion near the end, similar one can be seen in the new gameplay trailer, but it doesn’t have the same impact.

Sunset Overdrive is currently set for a release this year. It is an Xbox One exclusive being developed by Insomniac Games.
