Tales from the Borderlands started off with a bang as the first episode titled Zer0 Sum was just what we wanted from a Borderlands adventure game. Does the much awaited second episode titled Atlas Mugged keep to the pace? Let’s find out in the review below.
We last left off Rhys and Fiona finishing up a deadly death race and being victims of an unexpected betrayal. The episode starts off slowly with some exploration and a bit of back story. After ending up in a hidden room full of secrets, our heroes head out in search of answers but end up being separated. Here’s where the cast’s character dynamic shines, Rhyse and his best friend Vaughn are just so damn funny together. There’s a scene in this episode which had me cracking up for a good fifteen minutes, so the humour has definitely not take a dip.
The episode also has several characters from the mainline series making an appearance including Handsome Jack and Scooter. The writing is even better than the first episode, some of the dialogue towards the middle of the episode was just amazing. I personally enjoy playing Rhyse’s portions more, hopefully in the second episode they give Fiona’s portions a bit more oomph.
Telltale’s recent projects have had some performance issues but luckily Tales from the Borderlands hasn’t given me any problems at all. The game runs beautifully on the Playstation 4 which is the platform I reviewed the game on.
Overall Tales from the Borderlands Episode 2: Atlas Mugged is a very good followup to the first episode. If you haven’t gotten the season pass yet, certainly consider getting the second episode.
