Having Trouble Redeeming PSN Codes On PlayStation 4? Redeem On PS3/Vita, Carries Over All Devices

Yesterday Sony suspended code redemption for the PlayStation 4 as many were facing PSN issues such as cannot log in, due to high traffic on the server. Sony suspended the service in order to stabilize the PSN network and not cause the code redemption end in a failure and the lost of code. Fred Dutton, SCEE Blog Manager, in a blog post stated:

We are aware that users are experiencing some disruption to the PSN service. To minimise the inconvenience we have suspended the “redeem voucher” functionality whilst we investigate further. Unfortunately this means that money cards, product vouchers, PlayStation Plus vouchers, PS3-PS4 upgrade vouchers and any other vouchers for digital content are not redeemable at this stage. Other PSN features such as log-in, online multi-player gaming, PlayStation Plus trial, PS Store (excluding voucher redemption), trophies, messages, friends etc. are all available.

Luckily there’s a way you can redeem the codes without using the PlayStation 4. What you’ll need is a PlayStation 3 or a PS Vita and your main account which you will be or are using on the PlayStation 4. Simply log in to your account on PlayStation 3 or PS Vita with your account and redeem the PlayStation Plus or PS+ codes. The benefit of doing so is that it carries over to all devices.

If you are redeeming a non-PS+ code, you can also try Sony’s website by simply navigating to PlayStation Store On The Web, signing in with your details and then clicking on your PSN name, dropping down a menu and selecting ‘Redeem Codes’.

By this method you can get your PlayStation Plus voucher redeemed and linked to your account and can take advantage of it on your PlayStation 4. We hope Sony stabilizes the network soon.

What do you think about redeeming the codes through PS3 or Vita? Will you be redeeming it this way? Let us know in the comments below.

Unfortunately this is August 2014 and they’ve not still fixed it, if I had not seen this post I would have thrown the one year voucher I got away

I know this is irrevelant to the PS4 but I cannot redeem my codes (slim jim bf4 battlepack code) or my AC IV code for ps3 at all. It wont let me redeem exclusive content, however let me do my Uplay passport. when i do the redeem codes thing, all it says is “error has occured” or if i do it on AC IV main screen it says it may have been entered incorrectly or code invalid. Then i tried submitting question to ubisoft for exclusive content for AC IV and it said they were having tech difficulties, WTF really this shit obviously was not ready to be released. If anyone at all has any kind of answers for me please email me, I’ve been searching the web for hours for solutions and cannot find shit.

Yes but Sony realises there are alot of people without commonsense alot more then with it. I’m waiting it out there isn’t a chance I’m buying games I don’t have to. But one wonders when the service will be available? And why Sony aren’t telling when? Can your commonsense answer that for us?

Will the upgradeable games work if I try through the ps3? I’m not sure how it could? I have nba 2k14 redeem upgrade and cod ghosts but can’t play either because of this bullshit. And I can’t even go buy either of them until tomorrow when the shops open. Seriously pissed off I think it’s a blatant money grab, ofcourse they’d pick the redeem codes to shut down first, that forces all the people (myself included) with vouchers, game upgrades etc to spend even more money we shouldn’t have to. Think about the quick millions they’ll make in the time the service is down. Quite sad really, greed wins the day.. Again. Pricks.

I’m pretty sure people are going to just wait fur the service to come back on instead of running out and buying a whole new card/game. I myself got bf4 Friday on the ps3 and found out the services was down when I tried to do the ps3-ps4 download. I am anxious to play on ps4 but I am going to save $60 and jut wait fur the redeem services to come back on, like every person with common sense.
