Yesterday Sony suspended code redemption for the PlayStation 4 as many were facing PSN issues such as cannot log in, due to high traffic on the server. Sony suspended the service in order to stabilize the PSN network and not cause the code redemption end in a failure and the lost of code. Fred Dutton, SCEE Blog Manager, in a blog post stated:
We are aware that users are experiencing some disruption to the PSN service. To minimise the inconvenience we have suspended the “redeem voucher” functionality whilst we investigate further. Unfortunately this means that money cards, product vouchers, PlayStation Plus vouchers, PS3-PS4 upgrade vouchers and any other vouchers for digital content are not redeemable at this stage. Other PSN features such as log-in, online multi-player gaming, PlayStation Plus trial, PS Store (excluding voucher redemption), trophies, messages, friends etc. are all available.
Luckily there’s a way you can redeem the codes without using the PlayStation 4. What you’ll need is a PlayStation 3 or a PS Vita and your main account which you will be or are using on the PlayStation 4. Simply log in to your account on PlayStation 3 or PS Vita with your account and redeem the PlayStation Plus or PS+ codes. The benefit of doing so is that it carries over to all devices.
If you are redeeming a non-PS+ code, you can also try Sony’s website by simply navigating to PlayStation Store On The Web, signing in with your details and then clicking on your PSN name, dropping down a menu and selecting ‘Redeem Codes’.
By this method you can get your PlayStation Plus voucher redeemed and linked to your account and can take advantage of it on your PlayStation 4. We hope Sony stabilizes the network soon.
What do you think about redeeming the codes through PS3 or Vita? Will you be redeeming it this way? Let us know in the comments below.
