More bad news for Sony fans as it seems that Uncharted 4 director Justin Richmond has left developers Naughty Dog. Richmond was last working on Uncharted 4 which was announced back at Sony’s Playstation 4 launch event.
He briefly talked to IGN about his leave:
I have in fact made the decision to leave Naughty Dog,
I love the company and the people and know that they will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration and exploration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can’t wait to be a part of.
Richmond has now taken up a position at League of Legends developer Riot Games, which has grown tremendously in recent years and is scooping up talent everywhere. Before taking up Uncharted 4’s lead duties Richmond worked as the director of Uncharted 3 and the multiplayer portion of Uncharted 2. This is weeks after Creative Director, Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog. Could these two events be related?
Uncharted, Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us director duo Niel Druckmann and Bruce Straley are rumored to be leading development on Uncharted 4 but Naughty Dog is yet to provide confirmation.
Uncharted 4 is in development exclusively for the Playstation 4, no release date has been announced yet.
