At its E3 press event, EA has just announced a unique, physics-driven platformer called Unravel, which is developed being developed by Swedish studio Coldwood Interactive. Players will assume the role of Yarny, a tiny little character made from a single thread of yarn that slowly unravels as you move.
The game’s debut trailer can be seen below.
As Yarny, you will be required to traverse nature’s obstacles in order to make progress across the game’s levels. According to the developer, these obstacles have been inspired by the environments of Northern Scandinavia. The thread of yarn, which endlessly unravels behind Yarny, can be hung onto places in the environment, allowing you to leap across large gaps, glide along with floating kites, along with several other similar uses.
There’s an underlying aura of sadness in the trailer, possibly due to the melancholic music featured in the trailer. One can’t help but feel as if Yarny’s journey through Unravel’s beautiful environments will have its fair share of ups and downs.
Unravel hasn’t been given any release date thus far, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on any new developments regarding this heartwarming title from EA. Let us know what you think about the game in the comments below.
