A few months earlier, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided‘s executive game director Jean-Francois Dugas stated that you can talk your way out of boss fights, if you don’t feel like fighting. Now gameplay director Patrick Fortier has clarified those statements further in his interview with Eurogamer.
Fortier explained that the ability to negotiate and avoid fighting bosses will depend on several things but most importantly on your encounters and choices you made on your way to meeting that boss. Also this can’t be done with every boss since there two kinds of bosses, ones that can be talked to and others that just need to be fought to death.
“Through your social interactions leading up to a boss fight, you might have talked to people, or you might have explored, or you might have obtained certain elements or means to deal with a boss fight,” Fortier said.
In addition to that, he mentioned that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided won’t be too harsh on players in boss fights and especially those who like to be sneaky and focus more on stealth approaches to complete objectives which can’t be done in a boss fight.
“They won’t get burnt this time!” Fortier said.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is planned to release in early 2016 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
