Microsoft has acknowledged this issue and shared the following comment on it.
Are you experiencing issues signing in to Xbox Live? Our team is aware of the issue and we’re working hard to find a fix as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience in the meantime and will provide an update as soon as we have more information.
This is not the first time XBL has faced issues recently as it was supposedly down again last night before getting fixed. DownDetector also shows multiple reports of XBL down on their website in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile there are no such issues reported for PlayStation Network, atleast not for now.
Those who have an Xbox One with digital games might be unable to access their games library due to the unavailability of XBL service.
