The Five Most Anticipated Games Of 2014

2013 was a massive year for gaming with its fair share of blockbuster games and the long-awaited advent of the ‘next-gen’ consoles. Now, we can only hope that 2014’s gaming resume is even more impressive than what last year offered.

The signs look promising that 2014 will have a lot of great games so lets take a look at some of the big names. Kindly note that the yearly installments and exclusives are not included so you won’t see any FIFA, Battlefield, Infamous or Quantum Break in this list.

Here are the top 5 most anticipated games set to be launched in 2014.

5. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Developer: CD Projekt Red

Expected Release Date: September 2014

“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” is the third entry in The Witcher series, which has become the pinnacle of what a RPG should be. After the huge success of The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings every RPG fan in the world was desperately waiting for its successor. Other than the stunning visuals, the open lands, more quests, more monsters and the addictive gameplay will surely make the fans take notice of any announcement by CD Projekt.

This is surely the RPG to beat next year.

4. Destiny

Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Developer: Bungie

Expected Release Date: 9 September 2014

If you mix the fast-paced action of Halo with the reward system of Call of Duty and add some aspects of MMO games, then (hopefully) you get “Destiny”. The newest title from the Halo developers is a futuristic First Person shooter in which you will fight aliens to save your planet. This game got a lot of attention because its is a FPS game, yet it isn’t only a FPS. The developers have promised a totally unique gameplay and all we can do now is cross our fingers and hope that Destiny will be as good as it is claimed to be.

After the success of the Halo franchise, will Bungie be able to replicate that success? Only time will tell.

3. Thief

Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC

Developer: Eidos Montreal

Expected Release Date: 25 February 2014

The last game in “Thief” series  was released in 2004 and after almost 10 years, Garret, the master thief is finally back in the release titled “Thief”. If the developers can provide the perfect mix of stealth and action, much like how the previous games in this series did, then this game will surely be well received by everyone.  The trailer certainly looks impressive and let’s hope the game would be well worth the long wait. The bar has been set by Dishonored as a successful stealth game and we have to wait to see if Thief can reclaim its title of the best stealth game.

Thief is almost a month away from launch so we will soon know if Eidos have lived up to the expectations. Afterall, this game will decide how the start of our (gaming) year is.

2. Titanfall

Platform: Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC

Developer: Respawn Entertainment

Expected Release Date: 11 March 2014

If media hype is anything  to believe, “Titanfall” might be the game to redefine the FPS genre. This game seamlessly unifies man with machine. Giant robots, breakthrough weapons, futuristic combat suit, team-based objectives, this game has all the elements to make it a multiplayer success. The hype surrounding this game certainly shows that the expectations are certainly high.

This game certainly has the potential to transform the Xbox Live world on Xbox One, just like Halo did on the 360.

1. Watch Dogs

Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC

Developer: Ubisoft

Expected Release Date: Q2 2014

Was there ever any doubt about the most awaited game of 2014?

“Watch Dogs” was originally supposed to be the next-gen launch title but it ended up being pushed to 2014 which certainly frustrated a lot of people. The gameplay video was shown last year and it blew everyone away. This game feels like the fusion of Assassin’s Creed, GTA, Splinter Cell and The Matrix which got the hearts pumping of all the gamers. Watch Dogs will surely be able to go head-to-head with the GTA series.

The release date has not been confirmed yet but it is expected in the second quarter of 2014.

So which game are you waiting for the most? If you have any game to add, let us know in the comments.
