Spyro Reignited Trilogy faced a controversy recently once some ardent fans discovered that the retail version of the game will require a content download. The wording here implied that there was extra mandatory download required even though this was the final retail version.
This further collaborated through the official pre-order page for the game that listed only the first game being playable from the disc, requiring the users to download the remaining two games.
Activision has shared an official statement with us on this matter that seems to imply that this might be a mandatory update rather than full game downloads.
The global launch date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy is Sept. 21; and we’re excited for fans to play all three reignited games on that day.
As with most games today, downloading an update after purchase is quite common. The language on packaging and on the web is to let players know the requirements for Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a remake of the first 3 Spyro games that were released on the PS1 by Insomniac Games. They are being remastered by Toy For Bob and this trilogy will be published by Activision. It is confirmed for the PS4 and Xbox One while the official website has also leaked a rumored PC and Nintendo Switch version down the line.
