Developed by Guerrilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn is a post-apocalyptic action role-playing game that takes place in a world overrun by robotic lifeforms. Now with just a little under 5 months to go until release, some new information about the side-missions and activities in the game have been made available courtesy of GameInformer.
First up are Corruption Zones, which are areas on the map that are rife with hostile machines. These sites are home to some of the larger fights in the game, and clearing these out not only nets you experience, but also helps make exploration less dangerous.
In the city of Meridian, there is located a “Hunter’s Lodge”. By completing challenges set by the lodge’s representatives all around the game world, players will gain medals and experience. These can then be used to gain access to the lodge itself, where you can then ascend the hierarchy by completing additional activities.
There are several different tribes that make their home in the world of Horizon Zero Dawn. Each of these tribes deal with different climates and terrain, as well as have have their own history and beliefs regarding technology and religion. Special quests are available for every tribe and completing them will provide more insight into their way of life.
Hunting plays an important part in Horizon Zero Dawn as it allows players to gather resources for crafting. This is very important as your character has both a limited inventory space as well as a limited amount of arrows and healing items, so hunting both the machines and animal wildlife allows you to craft new items, as well as upgrades to your satchel. You can also use these resources to upgrade your armor.
And last but not least are the “Spontaneous Quests”. These are random activities that pop up as you explore the game world and may lead to unexpected rewards. You can also chose to completely ignore these.
Horizon Zero Dawn is slated for a release on 28th February, 2017 exclusively for the PlayStation 4. You can also check out a PS4 Pro 4K Trailer for the game here.
