FoxNext Games and D3 Go have announced Alien Blackout for Smartphones. This was leaked earlier through a trademark listing but it has been officially confirmed now.
Alien Blackout is a sequel to Alien Isolation and will star Amanda Ripley in a new adventure that sees the story pick up from the events of the first game. Here is a story synopsis which was given in the press release.
In Alien: Blackout, players assume the role of Amanda Ripley, trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a blood-thirsty creature. Players will need to survive increasingly challenging, fear-inducing levels by balancing the controls of the space station’s emergency systems to skillfully guide their crew to safety and avoid encounters with the enemy. The unpredictability of both the mysterious alien and the ultimate fate of the crew will force players to make life or death decisions that permanently alter the outcome of the game.
Additionally, a teaser trailer for the game can be seen below that shows snippets of footage from it.
As expected, since this announcement was met with plenty of shock and awe due to the mobile nature of the game, the YouTube video has a lot of dislikes from fans of the series.
To reduce some of the negativity towards this announcement, FoxNext has also revealed that their studio Cold Iron Studios is working on a brand new Alien game for consoles and PC.
FoxNext Games’ studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also currently at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe for consoles and PC.
Alien Blackout will be released later this month for mobile devices.
