Amazon cancelling more Nintendo pre-orders, is Amazon Vs. Nintendo reaching a boiling point?

Amazon is cancelling more pre-orders of games published by Nintendo.

We previously reported how Nintendo had apparently ‘blacklisted’ Amazon France from the Switch and its games, this problem seems to have trickled its way across to other regions as well.

Fans who pre-order the upcoming Nintendo published mach-action game, Daemon x Machina, for the Nintendo Switch were sent the following email:

Hello,

Due to a lack of availability, we will not be able to obtain the following item(s) from your order:

“Daemon X Machina – Nintendo Switch”

Daemon x Machina currently doesn’t have a fixed release date yet, only announced to be released sometime in 2019. It makes no sense for Amazon to cancel the order unless there’s something fishy going on behind the scenes. Amazon has no problem taking pre-orders for games and other items that have no release dates. I remember pre-ordering Kingdom Hearts 3 years back when it was available as a placeholder game for a PS3 release. Similarly Amazon has Metroid Prime 4 up for pre-order, which has a placeholder date of December 31, 2019.

If you open the page for Daemon X Machina right now on Amazon its showing the game to be currently unavailable. We’ve reached out to Amazon and Nintendo and will update this article as we find out more.

A similar situation occurred with Amazon and Sony previously with exclusives like Spider-Man and God of War but that seems to have been resolved.

What do you think is going on between Amazon and Nintendo? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
